Officer is a very important part of the National program for control of blindness and visual impairment. This program is run by central government. Ophthalmic officer is working at rural area.
Role of ophthalmic officer
The main role of the ophthalmint officer is correction of refractive error and find out the cataract patient. Ophthalmic officer is also doing many important roll in npcb program. List of work doing by Ophthalmic officer as a below.
1. Diagnose and correction of the refractive error at primary and rural area as well as in urban area.
2. Correct refractive error with by prescribing spectacle power and contact lenses.
3. Screening and identification of various eye disease like cataract, glaucoma, corneal blindness, diabetes retinopathy, low vision, squint and strabismus, uncorrected refractive error, allergy can bacterial conjunctivitis and trachoma
4. Screening for colour vision (not given certification and fitness certificate)
5. Dispensing of spectacle and contact lenses or correction of vision.
6. Ophthalmic officer giving I health education and training at rural area and in public places.
7. Ophthalmic officer is also collecting eyeball for reducing Corneal blindness.
